New law for Sewer Ownership

Owing to a change in the law, from 1st October 2011, Veolia Water be looking after more sewers and pipes that take wastewater from properties. If you're connected to our public sewer system, we will be taking ownership of any pipes that are outside your property boundary.

What does this mean to you?

You will still be responsible for those pipes within your property boundary that take wastewater away from only your home, but any that you may share with your neighbours outside your boundary will now be owned by us. Any pipes which don't connect to our system will also remain in private ownership. See the diagrams below for how this works for your property.

I have a private pumping station serving my property

We will need to survey it. Under the new arrangements, from October 2011 shared pipes and sewers that are served by a private pumping station will be owned by us. By October 2016, we'll have taken on responsibility for private pumping stations and rising mains too.

Paying your Bill

You have a choice of several different ways of paying your bill, whether your water is metered or not, . All these services are free unless otherwise stated:

  1. Cheque through the post
  2. Cash/Cheque in any Bank or Building Society subject to their transaction fees
  3. Using the Veolia Water Payment Card at any Pay Point outlet, Post Office
  4. Online - make a payment using the allpay online payment service
  5. Using our telephone service by Debit/Credit Card (08451 482909)
  6. By Direct Debit
  7. By BACS; Bank account details are: Barclays Bank PLC, Account name: Veolia Water Projects Ltd, Sort Code 20-74-09, Account number: 93738027, Reference: Your customer number from the first page of your bill.
  8. By Standing Order; Bank account details as above.

Having difficutly paying your bill?

If you have difficulty paying your water bill, please let us know as soon as possible. We want to help and, although we cannot reduce your bill, we may be able to make special payment arrangements to suit your circumstances.
